A Contest: You Can GiveBack
On top of my non-millionaire status, I’m also (mostly) unemployed. There is no regular paycheck in my world. My job as Mom, however, requires a fair amount of spending.
As a non-millionaire with a disproportionate earning/spending ratio, I used to feel helpless when it came to donating money. I wondered how I could make any kind of impact. Then I met GiveBack.
Back in the fall.
And did nothing with it.
I have no idea why I didn’t act sooner. Regular readers know I’m prone to analysis paralysis. I’m sure we could explore my procrastination issues in great detail, but let’s not. Instead, let’s focus on what’s happening now.
GiveBack allows individuals to set up their own foundations, and you don’t even need cash to do so. Hear that non-millionaires? No cash needed. You create an account, select charities to follow, and fund your account by shopping at your favorite online stores. When you do have a few extra dollars, though, you can also fund your account with cash donations.
It gets better.
Through July 17 GiveBack is sponsoring a 100 Days of GiveBack Campaign: one member per day will win $1000 to give to a charity of their choosing. At the end of the campaign, the person with the most Impact Points will win $50,000 for their foundation. As a member of both GiveBack and the One2One Network, I am participating in a social media campaign to spread the word about this opportunity.

That’s not all.
I was not required to write a blog post for this campaign, but I started thinking… Wouldn’t it be cool to do just a little more? I’m committed to utilizing GiveBack to do more of my online shopping, and while shopping is fantastic, I think I – we - can do even more.

Might be too late to comment, but my favorite charity is the Junior League of Chattanooga (I’m a member). We give lots and lots of money to our community every year (we focus on health issues for children) and we also serve our members well by teaching them volunteer management and leadership skills so that we can give back effectively.
